When Ben Riggs has exhausted his options, he reaches out for Shiraz fruit from Wit’s End. This vineyard is owned by iconic Vale family the Harveys (who own Chalk Hill). It sits right next to Tony Parkinson’s Penny’s Hill vineyard between the McLaren Vale and Willunga townships. The soil type is red Urrbrae loam with flat washed pebbles as well as black heavy Bay of Biscay soil. This type of soil helps to produce bright red fruit with dominant blackberry and raspberry flavours.
