These boutique wines represent my desire to play with the varieties that push my buttons; the vineyards that offer the most interesting grapes, and the wine styles that showcase something other than region and variety. The Generation Series embodies the old and the new, the past and the future, and everything in between, including my three sons, who are as different as they are great – much like the wines in the Generation Series. These wines are coloured by my creative inclinations and my passion to build an accolade to all those who stand by my side. I intend to leave a positive, personal legacy – and a few splendid wines along the way. Welcome to the next Generation of Mr. Riggs wines.
None excites Ben more than old-world style Riesling... ‘A Giant’ among wines. Perhaps his favourite creation; crisp, sweet and fresh.
Aiming for style and profile, the wine offers luscious layers of spice and dark berry fruits, balanced with a peppery undercurrent.
A supremely delicate ‘sticky’ with finesse and elegance, is definitely a wine Ben loves to drink. And he’d like others to come to the same sticky ending.
Please say hello to the empress of the Generation Series, Mrs. Viognier. She is complex and intriguing, delicate and seductive – much like Mr. Riggs’ better half, Annie.
"The old and the new, the past and the future, this Generation Series captures my new approach to selecting and making the wines I love" - Ben Riggs
As a young winemaker travelling the globe, the ‘Old World’ Chardonnays that Ben fell in love in the 1980’s were described as ‘like drinking cold chalk soup’, and have inspired him to make this beloved Adelaide Hills Chardonnay.
A vibrant and generous wine, very typical of McLaren Vale Grenache. A fine tribute to a fine young man; and a perfect homage to a perfect find.
Mr. Riggs Fortified Shiraz makes you sit up and pay attention. Just how my father liked it.
Yacca Paddock vineyard in the Adelaide Hills is owned by international film makers, Scott Hicks and Kerry Heysen-Hicks. Mr. Riggs Yacca Paddock Tempranillo characteristically displays savoury tannins, dried herb undertones, and highlights sweet tart red cherry flavours. Drink with food.
