Introducing to you my new fortifieds...

I am pleased to announce the release of my new fortified wines, The Elder Fortified Shiraz and Sticky End Riesling.

The Elder 2013 Fortified Shiraz

Small batch, vintage fortified Shiraz made with fruit from Piebald (my personal vineyard), which is naturally spicy with elegant structure. I added spirit on the skins to stop fermentation, extracts so that there was much more tannin. The spirit broke down the skins, resulting in a fortified Shiraz amazingly structured. My inspiration for making this wine came from loving the Portuguese vintage ports. I prefer more elegant traditional Australian styles, more structured.

Sticky End 2013 Riesling

An Adelaide Hills Riesling. Instead of drying, we froze it to make 'ice wine' - to help get rid of the sugar to then ferment it. Sweet and concentrated, spicy, matched well with any type of dessert.

Big day out checking the vines during vintage 2k16

Rosie (one of my winemaker's) and I had a big day out the other day checking all of my different vineyards, to make sure they are holding up okay this vintage season. 

Stop 1 - Angaston Bakery (brekky stop!)

Stop 2 - Angaston vineyard (Barossa Valley, SA)

Stop 3 - Churinga vineyard (Clare Valley, SA)

Stop 4 - Partalunga vineyard (Adelaide Hills, SA)

We are very proud of the results we recently received for our wines at the China Wine & Spirits Awards Best Value 2016 - including FIVE Double Gold medals, a TROPHY, and SIX Gold medals. Can't get much better than that!

Aussie Day Eve

On Australia Day Eve, we hosted a Gourmet BBQ at our cellar door. We had fantastic tunes by our resident DJ Pablito L'Amore, fantastic food as always by Chef Ben Sommariva (with the help of Ben & Nelson Riggs), and of course of fantastic cellar door crew manning the wine bar. It was a beautiful balmy evening, and everyone had a great time sitting back, relaxing, enjoying some great food and wine, and great tunes to bring in Australia Day.
