2012 Piebald Syrah

A sweetly fruited bouquet displaying red currants, sour cherry and blackberries. The Viognier component is understated, with peppercorns, restrained oak and blackcurrant influences leading towards elegant and feminine finish.                                   93 points

2013 The Magnet Grenache

Lively and fleshy, offering dark soaked fruits, games meats and layers of mocha oak. Enduring juicy tannins, and sweet dark fruits are aptly counterbalanced by baked earth, and Asian spice; all culminating in a supple, long and expressive finish."        93 points

2013 Montepulciano d'Adelaide Hills

Montepulciano wines originate from central Italy (primarily from the Abruzzi region), this contemporary Mr. Riggs release is an excellent adaptation. Well spiced, plush red fruits and savoury oak are all in play. Underpinned by dusty tannins, a core of sour fruits and hints of brooding intricacy. If you wish to explore the variety, here is an ideal starting point.                                          95 points

Great results from the 2015 Tastings World Wine Championships

GOLD medals and 91 points for our 2013 Three Corner Jack & pending release 2014 The Gaffer Shiraz at the 2015 Tastings World Wine Championships.


2013 Three Corner Jack Shiraz Cabernet Merlot

Opaque black violet color. Bright, fruity, creamy spicy aromas of blackberry pie a la mode, pickling spices, and nut brittle with a satiny, vibrant, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a smooth, layered, medium-length chocolate, creme brulee, and menthol mint finish with well-integrated tannins and moderate oak. A wonderful spicy and herbal shiraz based blend.

2014 The Gaffer Shiraz

Violet color. Aromas of blackberry, currant, black pepper, and roast venison with a creamy, bright, dry medium-full body and a warming, nuanced, medium-long cherry jam, black pepper, plum, and savory roast wild game finish with medium tannins and moderate oak. Juicy, spicy and complex with notes of fresh cracked pepper, perfectly ripe cherries and a savory, yet juicy note of roasted game.

Gaffer Month kicks off today

Today marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For us, we mark this as our Gaffer month each year. 

As some of you may already know, Mr. Riggs donates a portion of its sales of The Gaffer Shiraz to the Flinders Medical Centre Foundation to boost the foundation’s resources to find a cure for
cancer. Each year through the month of October, in addition to the ongoing contributions, Mr. Riggs donates proceeds from one bottle of The Gaffer Shiraz sold (from every dozen).

Pop Up Cellar Door is in full swing!

Well we had our very first weekend open at our pop up cellar door, and I must say, it went really well! Our staff met some fantastic customers, built some great rapport, and were very happy through it all (grinning from ear to ear!). 

Our team had our usual Friday evening drinks, but this time at the pop up cellar door, with that beautiful mild spring breeze blowing through as we set out on the verandah and relished in our successful opening. The Home Grain Bakery were even nice enough to put on some cocktail bakery goods and desserts for us, which we sure didn't pass up!

Official Opening of our Pop-Up Cellar Door

Mr. Riggs Officially Opens Pop-Up Cellar Door


On Friday 18th September 2015, Mr. Riggs will officially open the doors of its pop-up cellar door situated within to Homegrain Bakery at 55 Main Road, McLaren Flat.

The pop-up cellar door will be open Friday (12pm-4pm), Saturday (10am-4pm), Sunday (10am-4pm), as well as select public holidays.

On offer at this cellar door will be a select range of Mr. Riggs wines, available for tasting and bottle sales.

Ben Riggs says, “We’d like to thank our customers for being patient, and we look forward to welcoming you for a chat.”

The Mr. Riggs team are very excited about this new chapter, and look forward to seeing our customers at our brand new temporary home.
