Cellar Talk Wines Featuring The Elder Fortified Shiraz

This week, we are happy to share that our 2016 The Elder Fortified Shiraz has been selected as Ralph Kyte-Powell’s Cellar Talk.

Of this powerful Fortified Shiraz he has rated it 92 Points/4 Stars and says:

“Old McLaren Vale fortified shiraz turns up every so often at wine dinners. It’s usually labelled Vintage Port if it’s very old, Vintage Fortified or similar, if it’s been made since European generic naming was banned on Australian wines. Whatever the label says, with age it usually impresses greatly.

This example showcases the type in fine form with very deep colour, concentrated blackberry-ish fruit, a touch of old oaky funk and a hint of peppery spice, well-measured sweetness, tight structure, good length and a warm thread of earthy, slightly brandified spirit. Even though it’s very young, it has excellent balance and should mature well for decades. (Screwcap)”

Yet to be released, we couldn’t resist sharing this review with you.
